Just a day after the announcement that the internet has surpassed 100 million websites, Sir Tim Bernes-Lee steps up with some comments on the ever growing community. The British scientist who helped to develop the World wide web warns that if left uncheck, the internet will become bloated with misinformation and undemocratic forces.
"We really must have a science of understanding this. We must be able to look at whether it's going to continue to serve us well, or whether we'll end up with some things which suddenly appear overnight and which in fact are very bad," says Berners-Lee.
Berners-Lee urges that it be studied by a broad range of experts and scientist to study the effects of the internet in todays society. From there he feels that we will be able to create a better version of the internet with the knowledge we can gain from today's world wide web.
