YouTube was served a subpoena by 20th Century Fox for full disclosure of the YouTube user that posted the full episodes of the prime-time series' of The Simpsons and 24. In fact the episode of 24 appeared prior to its being officially aired.
The subpoena was granted by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California after being filed by 20th Century Fox, a News Corp. owned subsidiary and was served on the Google owned subsidiary on January 18th. It is unknown whether or not YouTube has complied with the court order as yet. The subpoena was also served on a lesser known video site, LiveDigital.
The episode of 24 actually appeared on YouTube prior to its prime-time January 14th premiere on the Fox broadcast network. Fox became aware that the episode was posted on January 8th. The subpoena identifies the YouTube user as "ECOtotal", however a search of YouTube for this user returns an error message that "this account has been suspended".
