Sprint Nextel Mogul Unleashes New Mobile Cellular Network

The new Mogul device is Sprint Nextel's first cdma2000 EV-DO Revision A mobile handset that will include network speeds. The network is widely expected to increase data speeds for e-mail and web access from 400-700Kbps to between 600Kbps-1.4Mbps with average upload speeds from 50-70Kbps to 350-500Kbps.
The faster speeds come before Sprint's official launch of mobile WiMAX services next month. Sprint users have only been able to access the Rev. A network via a data card.
The Mogul, a Windows Mobile device from HTC, actually launched in June of 2007, but will be able to access the Rev. A network through a free firmware update.
{slot15}Sprint said the vast majority of its US cellular network, covering more than 234 million people and 13,453 cities, has already been upgraded to the faster EV-DO Rev. A technology.
The Mogul software download also provides Advanced GPS functionality to the device, allowing support of applications such as Sprint Navigation.
Sprint's Mogul is available for $199.99 with a two year service agreement and a $100 mail in rebate.
