Nintendo's Mario Kart Wii hit the store shelves this weekend and is racing off the shelves being bolstered by a new gadget, the wheel.

Nintendo has re-released Mario Kart, this time for the larger screen, on the Wii. And this time it has a new gadget option, the wheel. This is simply a plastic wheel which the Wii Remote is placed into and allows the player to drive the Kart using the wheel feature. This add a great new dimension to the game and gives the player more of a "feel" for driving the Kart.

For those two or three of you who have not played Mario Kart on the DS, allow me to fill you in on this well loved game. Mario Kart is a go-kart racing game with tons of twists and turns, plus some turtle shells and more thrown in for more fun. Then add mushrooms, power-ups that can super-speed boost you by your opponents and you have one heck of a race where it's always any body's race.

There are 12 Nintendo characters to choose from to start out, and each character has their own strengths and weaknesses. You are able to unlock more characters as you advance. And each character begins with three karts new to the Wii, three sets of bikes. The bikes will take a little more time to master, especially the speed boosts. But the bikes are also tighter on the turns as well.

There is single as well as multiplayer modes, and 16 classic tracks as well as 16 new tracks to race on. There will be lots more news to come as the review hits GameSHOUT.com so keep checking back.
