Activision unveiled Call of Duty 5 and a new military theater.

Activision Inc. held its investor conference call on Friday, during which it announced its intentions to launch Call of Duty 5 before the end of this fiscal year, which ends in March of 2009. On top of that, COD 5 will be on almost every platform except the PSP, namely the Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2, Nintendo's Wii and DS, and of course the PC.

Additionally, Activision intends to bring gamers the intensity of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to a new military theater. It is their intention to double the user base from the last release which will be no simple trick. This was announced by Activision's president and CEO, Mike Griffith.

Ultimately it looks like it is Activision's intent to completely overwhelm gamers with a bigger and better COD than we received with COD 4, but many believe that this will be quite a difficult task indeed as COD 4 was an impressive blockbuster and will be tough to beat. If Activision has their way, they will likely have a game that will actually outsell Grand Theft Auto IV, and if they top COD 4 in the way they hope, they actually may have a chance to do this.
