Sony releases PS3 update 1.93 and PSP update 3.71

Sony has announced that it will be releasing a firmware update for both the PS3 and PSP in a few days. Some of the fixes address network disconnect issues that PlayStation 3 owners experience after downloading the previous firmware update 1.92.

The main feature for the Sony PlayStation Portable update 3.71, is the ability to set themes on your PSP. Themes will become available on SCEA’s official PSP site, Playstation.com and through the PlayStation Store.

PSP owners will be able to download themes based on Sony’s popular titles. Check out the image below that shows where you must download the files to on your memory stick. Once a theme has been downloaded, PSP gamers should go to ‘settings,’ select ‘theme settings’ then select ‘theme’ and then ‘custom theme’ to choose the theme you want to display on your PSP.

PSP gamers will also be able to play music while viewing photos or a slideshow now. Start playing a track saved on your memory stick before pressing the ‘Home’ or ‘Select’ button and then navigate to your photos under the Photo icon and you can begin viewing. Also included will be a scene search for movies.
