Macworld is Approaching So What's in Store for Apple in 2007?

With Macworld 2007 taking place in San Fransisco, CA. at the Moscone Center, Apple looks back on a great 2006. At the conference we know that Steve Jobs will of course open the event and that is one of the few hard facts that we have about the program. But he has a "Columbo" way about his speeches as he usually ends his keynote speeches with this "just one more thing" statement that usually leads to something that just blows you away.

What can we expect for 2007 and for Macworld? Well this year, we know that he will not be announcing the iPhone as Linksys has owned that name since 1999 and has entered development of that product. But it is likely that Mr. Jobs will announce a gadget similar to what many of us hope for, an iPod with a larger screen and a mobile phone. I just wonder what they will call it. We are hearing that this new device will be an iPod with Bluetooth for personal networking, and WiMAX for wireless internet access.

You can expect Apple to continue to keep its hold on the digital media market, and possibly increase their hold, even though there were some reports of iTunes sales falling off in 2006. Some of those reports have been disproved. In fact, it appears that Apple will be more involved in entertainment with the example of iTV which will for for the first time, make it easy to join a Mac and TV. It will offer access not just to your music and iTunes Store downloads, but also to any other videos on your computer, including those made in iMovie, as well as digital photos. Virtually turning your TV into an always-available family photo album.

There are other rumors of an announcement at Macworld of a neat little box for your living-room, but no it's not a video game system. It is a movie streaming system that access music video podcasts and picture slide shows from networked Macs and PCs to television sets and video screens. We hear tell that this is a little more than rumor and is closer to fact, and that it will be released in the first quarter of 2007 for a price in the range of $300.

There will be a lot of news leading up to Macworld 2007 and we will bring you all that we find and together we'll sort out the truth from rumor.
