MySpace launches gaming network

MySpace, owned by News Corporation, has partnered with games distributor Oberon Media to launch a new gaming network on the social site.

The launch of the gaming network will be a new channel that will allow MySpace users to play various games on the social site with other users. The gaming platform will offer stand-alone games and multiplayer games to allow groups to challenge friends online. The company says that social casual games will enhance their user�s experience.

The social site is also opening up developer opportunities for those that create games and want to post them on MySpace. Both companies are reaching out to game developers to present ideas for possible new games on ways for people to interact online. The new developer service is called White Label Casual Gaming Solution that allows users to customize their own games.

All games will be available to play online free of charge to MySpace users and is scheduled to launch in early 2008.

The social network currently has over 200 million members signed up and offers friends who want to talk online, singles who want to meet other singles, families who want to keep in touch, business people and co-workers interested in networking, classmates and study partners and anyone looking for long lost friends.
