MySpace Set to Launch Gaming Network

MySpace has teamed up with a game distributor, Oberon Media to launch a new gaming channel on the social networking site. The new channel will allow MySpace users to play various games on the site with other users. The site will offer stand-alone games as will as multiplayer games allowing users to challenge friends online. The site advised that the games will enhance the overall user experience.

MySpace is further opening up new developer opportunities for those that create games and wish to post them on MySpace. Both companies are reaching out to game developers to present ideas for possible new games on ways for people to interact online. The new developer service is called White Label Casual Gaming Solution that allows users to customize their own games.

The games on MySpace will be available to users at no charge and the new service is scheduled to launch sometime in early 2008. Currently, MySpace has over 200 million members signed up and offers friends who want to talk online, singles who want to meet other singles, families who want to keep in touch, business people and co-workers interested in networking.
