Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates are joining forces in order to combat the Apple commercial series that has shown such great success.

Microsoft Inc. is battling back against the successful Apple commercial series by incorporating the team of Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld. And the ads seem to be fun, but we have yet to see just how effective they are.

The purpose of the ads is to promote Windows Vista operating system and remove any negative stigma caused by the competition with their successful ad campaign. The second of the Microsoft ads, "A Family Affair" can be seen in its entirety on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBWPf1BWtkw, and though its almost 4 1/2 minutes long, it is much funnier than the first ad, which left most people just scratching their heads.

The first ad showing Gates and Seinfeld in a show store left many people just wondering what they were doing. The second ad is much more fun adding Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld at a family dinner table, in an attempt to "connect with real people". They spend the rest of the ad connecting to this family, though they never seem to be able to satisfy the grandma.

Microsoft wants to keep the ads to about 1 minute and 30 seconds each, and at this rate the third or fourth ad will be a 30 minute infomercial. But for the most part, the point of the ads are coming across; that Microsoft is trying to keep common people connected.

The Apple ads have seen great success in drawing questions about Windows Vista using a hip Apple guy and a dumpy-looking PC guy that is supposed to represent and look a little like Bill Gates. The Microsoft ads haven't taken aim at apple yet, and most believe they won't until we see Seinfeld and Gates roll in the catapults.
