Seinfeld reportedly will earn $10 million for his part in the campaign that starts in September focusing on improving the image of Windows Vista.

Jerry Seinfeld will be joining Bill Gates in a $300 million advertising campaign to fight back against Apple.

Microsoft Inc. announced that Jerry Seinfeld will be joining Bill Gates in an advertising campaign that is designed to fight back against Apple's anti-Windows advertising. The $300 million campaign is designed to improve the image of Windows Vista.

The theme of the ad campaign, "Windows, Not Walls", is expected to highlight Windows Vista's openness, removing the barriers to keeping users' connected. It is also designed to criticize Apple's integrated business model approach that leaves users very little room for the connection of ideas and people.

The idea is that the new series of advertisements is going to counter the "Mac vs. PC" ads that feature a up-to-date hip Mac guy interacting with a geeky PC guy that in some ways is meant to look a little like Bill Gates.

The new ad campaign will kick-off on September 4th with an ad in which Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld will appear in the ad together. Seinfeld is reportedly earning $10 million for his role in the campaign.

The series of ads will also go on to focus on the Microsoft Zune MP3 player and will attempt to counter the perception that the music player is a failure.

Other celebrity comedians were reported to be considered for the role in the advertisements including Will Ferrell and Chris Rock. Seinfeld is best known for his NBC sitcom of the same name where in most episodes a Macintosh computer was prominently displayed in the background of the set.
