Xbox 360 will include scripted ventures that run under 10 minutes and span a variety of genres that appeal primarily to men aged 14 to 34, including comedy and horror, which are considered to be the primary audience.

Microsoft said the short scripted shows will be made from established Hollywood producers exclusively for the Xbox 360 consoles.

Microsoft is planning to offer TV shows available exclusively to subscribers of its Xbox Live service. The short scripted shows will be made from established Hollywood producers and created exclusively for the Xbox 360 consoles.

Since most of the consoles are connected to TV sets rather than to computers, the movies would compete directly with currently available on-demand TV shows.

Heading up the Xbox production company, Microsoft said, will be veteran Hollywood producer Peter Safran. Safran told said that he plans to seek out top directors, screenwriters and actors for the Xbox 360 television project.

Safran's production company represents high-profile artists such as Sean "P Diddy" Combs (8 Mile, Bad Boys II), Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding, A Wilderness of Monkeys), and writer Aaron Seltzer (Scary Movie 2, Epic Movie).

Xbox Live has played home to an array of ancillary content, including standard and high-definition films from major Hollywood outfits such as Paramount, Warner Bros, Disney and broadcast TV studios such as NBC, CBS, and ABC.
