McAfee plans to buy Secure Computing Corp for $465 million. The acquisition will add additional network security solutions for the company.

I just happened to stumble upon an article at NewsOXY's Network Security page about McAfee. The antivirus company is buying Secure Computing for $465 million.

McAfee will use the acquisition to beef up its computer and network security products. The article says that the deal will give the antivirus company 22,000 business customers. Here's a quote:

"McAfee Chief Executive Dave DeWalt said the purchase will help round out McAfee's line of products that help protect business networks. Since he joined McAfee in early 2007, DeWalt has used acquisitions to beef up its network security products.

So far McAfee only has "a few thousand" network security customers. The Secure Computing purchase will add 22,000 more customers in that area, he said."

McAfee CEO Dave DeWalt was also quoted:

""We expect the pending combination of McAfee and Secure Computing will create an annual projected combined revenue of just under $500 million in the network security segment of our SRM portfolio," DeWalt said."

This is a big deal for McAfee. The acquisition will make the company one of the largest network security players in the world. The company will now be able to deliver a complete network security solution to businesses of all sizes.
