Google Aims iPhone Audience

A new specific portal for the iPhone has been launched by Google.

iPhone users now have their own Google user interface when visiting the search engine giant. Instead of the standard Google desktop portal, iPhone users will be directed to a new iPhone-specific Google user interface.

The iPhone-optimized Web page is quite different than the one Google delivers to other types of smartphones. It has that iPhone look and feel that sports the new user interface quite similar to iPhone menu.

Furthermore, the Google iPhone site offers direct access to Gmail, Calendar and Reader. There's also a "More" link that when clicked, will send the mobile cellphone user to direct access to some additional Google services, including Docs, SMS, GOOG-411, News, Photos, Blogger and Notebook.

The iPhone uses Apple's Safari browser which is one of the best Internet experiences on the web. However, it's not perfect and Steve Jobs already admitted that it needs work for the mobile browser interface.

Many web sites including Amazon.com and now Google are promoting iPhone friendly portals to steamline content specific for the iPhone user.

It's worth the work to setuip iPhone friendly portals because after all, the iPhone is one of fastest selling smartphones in history. Apple believes it can sell 10 million next year alone and has already exceeded sales goals for this year already. With the iPhone starting to roll out in Europe, its popularity can only increase.
