Now Bethesda Softworks has taken out the lead character's use of the drug in all versions for all countries.

Fallout 3 was facing stiff opposition due to the character's use of morphine in the game, some countries not allowing it to be sold.

Bethesda Softworks may be bowing to the will of the "politically correct" but at least they will sell games. Fallout 3 was not going to be allowed to be sold in some countries including Australia due to the lead character's use of morphine as a way to increase his strength. But now that has been taken completely out of the game.

Fallout 3 took out the morphine use from the Australian version to appease that country's political requirement, but since it seems to be an issue with more than just Australia, Bethesda has decided to take out the drug use from all versions and in all countries.

Now with no drug references in any of the versions, there is less likelihood of any version confusion. But some still are saying that Bethesda has fallen prey to the "politically correct" attitude that seems to permeate many countries of the world. And that a softer and gentler Fallout 3 would be a sell-out of the series.

Fallout 3 is a post-apocalyptic role-playing game set in Washington DC after the atomic war or 2077. Gamers play the role of a survivor that emerges from the safety of Vault 101 to face the evils of super mutants, ghouls, raiders and many other dangers of this devastated wasteland.

It seems that the drug use is the only place where Bethesda has made any concessions. The rest of the game continues to be as brutal as the rest of the series has been. So now the game will be more readily available and Bethesda will sell more copies, and now all should be happy, but it will still have an "M" for Mature rating by the ESRB making it a 17+ game in the US and 18+ in Europe.
