Meanwhile, reports are that another Apple clone maker, Open Tech is up for sale for a mere $50,000 after being open for only a month.

Psystar, the small company that has dared to sell an Apple Mac clone in an expandable PC case is fighting back against their Goliath, Apple in a countersuit.

Psystar Corp. is fighting back against Apple as it plans on filing an antitrust lawsuit against Apple after the Mac giant filed suit against Psystar for selling affordable Mac clones. Psystar has refused to discontinue shipping its products and claims that Apple is participating in illegal anti-competitive practices.

It started out a few months back when Psystar started producing and selling expandable PCs with Apple's operating system installed on it. On the Psystar website, the slogan is "I want a Hackintosh". This was bound to ruffle some feathers at Apple as Psystar was selling affordable computers with fully operational and genuine Leopard OS X under the hood for less than half the cost of a genuine Apple Mac. And to top it off, these computer systems can be expanded with new video cards or what ever the owner wants to install, unlike Mac.

Apple lawyers quickly went into action and for a short time, closed down the Psystar website. But with a few changes, the site opened back up with the Mac clones still for sale. Today Psystar is still selling and servicing their Mac clones as well as computers with other operating systems including Windows and Linux.

Meanwhile, there are those across the Internet cheering for the underdog, and others in support of Apple. Psystar owner Rudy Pedraza simply believes that he should have the right to buy the operating system, install it on computers that are dramatically lower in cost than an Apple Mac system, and resell that computer.

Other small computer makers that have tried selling Apple Mac clones have fallen at the sword of the Apple team of attorneys. One such company called Open Tech was open for about a month before it put up a for sale sign on its website at http://www.freewebs.com/iopentech/. The company is being sold for a mere $50,000, but if the Psystar countersuit were to be successful, then the company would be worth much more. But many others believe that if Psystar were to win in an antitrust suit against Apple, that Apple would simply discontinue retail sales of the Leopard OSX upgrades.
