Bloomberg is Wrong, Jobs is Alive
Bloomberg News mistakenly published an obituary for Apple's Steve Jobs on Thursday, but Jobs says he's still alive.Bloomberg News mistakenly published their advance obituary of Apple's Steve Jobs on Thursday, much to the dismay of Mr. Jobs who is very much alive, at least he was the last time he checked. It is common for news organizations to have pre-written obituaries of most famous people, so that when that celebrity passes, they can be the first to press with the obituary. Unfortunately, this obituary was published just a little prematurely. A spokesperson for Bloomberg News said that if it can go wrong, it will go wrong, and in this case it really went wrong. They did a routine update of the obituary in that department, and somehow it was released. In fact, the story was even marked with "HOLD FOR RELEASE - DO NOT USE". But that didn't seem to stop the publishing. The story was supposed to have been moved to the internal wire, but instead it went out on the external wire to subscribers. Though it was then pulled less than a minute later and a retraction was printed. Mr. Jobs was nowhere to be found for comment. Filed Under: Apple News Technology NewsShare Article Link:
