Apple's AirPort Express mobile base station now has the latest wireless technology and offers up to five times the speed and range of its prior model.

The new version of Apple's $99 AirPort Express has the latest 802.11n wireless technology and can be plugged into any wall for immediate Internet connectivity. The Internet connection offers USB printing which allows the device to be shared wireless with other PC users.
Apple says the new version, which is available through retail stores and its resellers, also offers a speed increase of up to five times faster than its previous model.
{slot15}Weighing in at only 6.7 ounces, the AirPort Express features the AirTunes application, which works with iTunes to provide wireless streaming of iTunes music from a PC or Mac to other rooms in the house. The device includes audio jacks for typical connection to a stereo system or powered speakers.
The device can share the bandwidth with up to 10 simultaneous users when connected to a DSL or cable broadband connection. Security features include support for Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) and WPA2, as well as 128-bit WEP encryption and a built-in firewall.
The technology company says 802.11n is now standard across its entire line of AirPort base stations, Mac notebooks, the iMac, Apple TV and its Time Capsule device.
