BioShock PlayStation 3 Release Date Announced

2K Games announced the release date for its blockbuster title on the Sony PlayStation 3 of October 21st in North America.

2K Games announced Tuesday the release date for their blockbuster hit, BioShock on the Sony PlayStation 3 entertainment system platform. The publishing label of Take-Two Interactive said that BioShock will hit store shelves in North America on October 21st, and internationally on October 24th.

Though BioShock has been out on the PC and Microsoft Xbox 360 for almost a year, the PS3 version contains all-new content that augments the original storyline and expands the game experience in some very exciting ways.

Christoph Hartmann, the president of 2K stated “We are proud to introduce 2K Games’ showcase title, BioShock, to an entirely new audience.” He further added that “With the addition of the new Add-On Game Content we are able to extend the award-winning adventure while maintaining the perfect harmony that millions of players around the world have fallen in love with.”

BioShock is a first-person shooter of sorts that uses genetic enhancements as a part of the weapon selection. It is a narrative-driven action game that takes the player to a city deep under the ocean into a terrifying world. Caught between powerful forces and hunted down by genetically mutated citizens, the player will come to grips with the mysterious and fascinating world of Rapture, a distinct Art Deco underwater utopia gone mad. BioShock not only challenges players’ capacity to adapt and survive, but brings to question their values and relationships with the inhabitants of Rapture.

BioShock uses a mixture of incredible environments, a compelling and unique storyline, and an enemy with a smart and adaptive AI that makes the game unique each time its played. BioShock received more than 50 "Game of the Year" awards from a variety of well known media outlets as well as incredibly high praise from most all others, including top honors right here on GameSHOUT. BioShock is rated "M" for Mature by the ESRB.
